What comes to mind when you think of Fall? The changing of the leaves, football, Halloween, pumpkins, the color orange, all things pumpkin spice, corn maze, and hayrides, all of that right? Well, I do! This year has had its challenges, but I have tried my best to maintain some normalcy through family traditions as a Mom. A family tradition that I was happy to continue this year was visiting a local pumpkin patch.
We had the opportunity to visit Sidhu Farms, a family-owned and operated farm in Puyallup, WA. The Sidhu family created this wonderful farm that overflows with joy and sustainability in 1997 and is highly recognizable throughout Washington Farmer’s Markets for their delicious berries. My personal favorite is their organically certified blueberries that can be purchased online during the winter months.
On the morning of our visit, my children were beaming with excitement to get out and enjoy the fall festivities Sidhu Farms had to offer. Upon arrival, I was pleased to see that they had a large parking lot, which could accommodate all families; they had sanitation stations throughout the farm. It was easy to maintain social distance while enjoying the festivities. I had the privilege of meeting some of the Sidhu family, and they were incredibly kind and welcoming! Their farm exudes community, partnership, family, and sustainability. It is remarkable and appears effortless. I am thankful that my family and I had the opportunity to meet the Sidhu family and experience firsthand their farm’s wonders.
This Fall, they have created a pumpkin wonderland of fun, family-friendly activities that are enjoyable for all ages. If you are looking for a welcoming, knowledgeable, and creative pumpkin patch, this is the farm for you!
The Corn Maze:
It has a space exploration theme, which ties into the three games hidden within the maze. You are given a pamphlet with a map on the back, seen through the “Maize-O-Vision.” My children thought it was the coolest thing to wear the glasses and see the hidden map. The Sidhu family specifically laid hay throughout the maze to prevent a muddy trail and keep the fun going. Each route is color-coded to help prevent anyone from getting lost. You may consider taking a picture of the color-coded map that is hanging outside the operational booth. When you have reached the center, you can look out at the watchtower that shows Mt. Rainier and all the surrounding land. It is incredible!
The Pumpkin Patch:
Pumpkins are an essential part of celebrating Fall, and journeying into a pumpkin patch has become a family tradition for many. The patch itself has a variety of different sizes and colors.
The Kid Zone:
The kid zone was a fan favorite with my children because it had recreated a translucent maze that was short; they have several climbing structures, two bounce houses, a large tunnel to travel through, and best of all, it is FREE!
Hay Ride Around Sidhu Farm:
You can take a mini-tour of the farm from the comforts of the wagon. It was a magical tour that gave us an insight into a variety of berries and additional crops they have on the land. You may want to consider the ride after experiencing the Space Exploration corn maze, the perfect way to take a break and enjoy the surroundings.
